FLORAL ART FOR LITURGY
FLORAL ART FOR LITURGY
curated by Pie Discepole del Divin Maestro
MONDAY, 12th FEBRUARY 2024
10.00 a.m. - 4.30
«Church has always encouraged fine arts and has always sought their noble service, particularly so that things belonging to sacred worship would truly shine with dignity, decorum, and beauty, to symbolize supernatural realities». (Sacrosanctum Concilium 122)
Through floral art in the liturgy, we want to raise awareness and training to the beauty of the liturgy. We also want to introduce to the mystery celebrated in its theological and symbolic value as also advocated by Pope Francis in his Apostolic Letter on the Liturgical Formation of the People of Desiderio Desideravi.
The involvement of the team of the Disciples of the Divine Master in the DEVOTIO fair thus includes two moments: a time of liturgical formation to understand the importance of time and space required by the rite celebrated and lived, and a second workshop moment in which a technical explanation of the materials for flower arrangement, color, shape and execution of the floral bouquet will follow.

|
10.00 a.m. | sr. M. EMMANUELA VIVIANO, pddm UA ministry at the service of the Mystery: why a floral art for Liturgy? Toward Easter: time and space |
Floral art in liturgy together with the art of singing, architecture, painting, etc., they all introduce the gracefully celebrated mystery, highlight the significant places of the rite: the altar, the ambo, the see, the Eucharistic custody; especially floral arrangements are a support for prayer and contemplation, create a joyful atmosphere and a festive mood.
The floral art workshop aims to introduce people to an arrangement technique by teaching the classic bouquet method and lines. It aims to acquaint people with the value of plants, the types of flowers, what the conditioning of flowers is, so that they achieve their maximum lifespan.
The floral composition of the sacred space is an art that demands measure, discretion, an economy of means, creativity and discipline: it is an art that must talk to the hearts of men, since "this world, in which we live, needs beauty in order not to fall into despair." (Paolo VI, Messaggio del Concilio agli artisti 8/12/65)
