WORKSHOP - The dream of art and charity
The workshop “The Dream of Art and Charity” was created to present the Edil Design in Art laboratory and the experience of Artesanos Don Bosco, a project that brings together artisanal training, creativity, and social commitment.
The initiative has its roots in Latin America, starting in Peru, where the teaching of traditional crafts has been used as a concrete tool for social inclusion and empowerment, offering young people from vulnerable backgrounds the opportunity to acquire professional skills and build an independent future.
Through the learning of crafts such as woodworking, sculpture, mosaic-making, and other forms of manual work, craftsmanship becomes not only a profession but also an educational journey, capable of transmitting values, discipline, a sense of work, and belonging.
Today, with the Edil Design in Art laboratory located in Umbria, this dream continues and is renewed, bringing to Italy as well a training model that places young people at its center, guiding them toward the discovery and enhancement of artisanal crafts, understood as professional, expressive, and human opportunities.
The inspiring figure behind Edil Design in Art is Saint Francis, the symbolic figure of Umbria and a universal witness to simplicity, charity, and respect for humanity and creation. On the occasion of the 800th anniversary of his death, his spiritual and human legacy becomes a living reference for a project that recognizes artisanal work as an authentic form of service and sharing.
The workshop aims to illustrate its origins, founding values, and future perspectives, with the objective not only of bringing new generations closer to craftsmanship, but also of fostering a dialogue between tradition and innovation, connecting manual skills and artisanal knowledge with new technologies, so that the art of making may continue to evolve and speak to the present and the future, in the spirit of active and contemporary charity inspired by the Franciscan message.

An architect with a background developed across architecture, restoration, and applied arts, he earned a degree in Architecture from the Politecnico di Milano. Alongside his university studies, he deepened his artistic language by attending the San Giorgio Academy of Art in Brescia and carried out pictorial restoration work on important decorative cycles, including works by Giambattista and Giandomenico Tiepolo.
Since 2005, he has been a volunteer architect for Operazione Mato Grosso, working across Latin America, the United States, and Italy, where he has overseen and coordinated numerous projects involving the design, restoration, and construction of religious buildings, with particular attention to the social, spiritual, and community value of architecture. Over the years, he has worked on churches, monasteries, and cathedrals in Peru, Bolivia, the United States, Italy, and Israel, on projects ranging from new construction to the furnishing and decoration of liturgical spaces.
His professional activity has always been accompanied by a strong humanitarian commitment, viewing architecture and art as instruments of service, education, and concrete charity, in keeping with Franciscan values and with a vision of work as a gift and a responsibility toward the community.
Since 2024, he has been collaborating as an architect with Edil Design, bringing to the Edil Design in Art workshop an international experience that combines artisanal craftsmanship, design, restoration, and a deep attention to the human and spiritual dimensions of making, in a continuous dialogue between tradition and innovation.
