Concert - Sacred music: from Renaissance to Contemporary
For the first time, DEVOTIO is dedicating ample space to the theme of liturgical music. The concert by the Sibi Consoni choir ideally opens the path that will culminate in the conference room meeting “What music for a liturgy today”, a lectio magistralis and round table scheduled for 2 February.
The mixed choir Sibi Consoni of the Accademia Vocale di Genova, founded and directed by Roberta Paraninfo, will perform a repertoire ranging from Palestrina and Gesualdo to Mendelssohn, Bruckner, Pizzetti, Merkù, Durighello and Piovano.
Initially founded as a children's choir and subsequently developed into a youth choir, the group is now a nationally recognised and appreciated polyphonic choir.
The name Sibi Consoni — a Latin expression meaning “in harmony with each other” — represents not only the musical harmony that characterises the ensemble, but also the deep human bond that has developed over time between its members.
In February 2017, together with the Genova Vocal Ensemble, the choir made the world premiere recording of Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco's Shakespeare Sonnets for Brilliant Classics.
Since its foundation, Sibi Consoni has participated in numerous national and international festivals and competitions, winning prestigious prizes and awards.
In 2021, it won first prize in the Sacred Music category and the “Efrem Casagrande” Grand Prize at the Concorso Nazionale Trofei Città di Vittorio Veneto.
In 2024, at the Concorso Polifonico del Lago.

Roberta Paraninfo
Pianist, Director of Choir Sibi Consoni - Accademia Vocale Genova
Roberta Paraninfo, a trained pianist, conductor and teacher by profession, has founded and directed several choral groups since 1994. Her first “creation”, established in 1995, was the Genova Vocal Ensemble. Around this first choral nucleus, in 2005 she founded and currently directs the Accademia Vocale di Genova, a choral and musical training programme: within this structure, generations of singers pass through the different stages of choral growth starting from childhood (Mini, Piccoli and Giovani Cantori), until, once their voices have changed, they assume their own personal identity, starting with the choice of a name and a shared “direction”, and continue their choral life within the Academy.
The current mixed choir of the Accademia Vocale di Genova is the Sibi Consoni choir. With these groups, she has been invited to prestigious international festivals (Italy, France, Switzerland, Slovenia) and has won numerous awards in national and international competitions. In addition to these, she has conducted the JanuaVox mixed choir, the Good News! female choir and the Steffani Chamber Choir of the Conservatory of the same name in Castelfranco Veneto.
Believing that immersion in music from an early age is fundamental, for many years she has personally supervised music education and choral development projects for primary schools and, at the same time, training courses for teachers and choir conductors in various regions of Italy, on behalf of the national federation.
