International Conference CHARISM & CREATIVITY
The international Conference “Charism & Creativity - Catalogues, management and innovation regarding the cultural heritage of institutes of consecrated life”, that will be held on May 4th and 5th, 2022 in Rome-Antonianum, is a joint initiative of the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life and the Pontifical Council for Culture in cooperation with the National Office for Ecclesiastical Cultural Heritage and Building of Places of Worship CEI, the Department of Cultural Heritage of the Church - Faculty of History and Cultural Heritage of the Church - Pontifical Gregorian University, UISG - International Union Superiors General, USG - Union Superiors General, SAM - Nuns Assistance Secretariat, University of Bologna, Department of Architecture.
Its object is the cultural heritage of communities of consecrated life in all their expressions. It aims to consolidate and make more effective the actions of protection and valorization involving all those who are engaged with this cultural heritage.
The Conference will analyze methods of cataloguing the cultural heritage of communities of consecrated life, and the role of the Church's goods determining belonging, identity or affection. Moreover, the conference will focus on the processes of reuse and re-functionalization of cultural heritage of institutes of consecrated life, analyzing the experiences of transformation of church buildings into “common assets” from the perspective of generative welfare.
It is hoped that the Conference will help understanding and interpreting the cultural heritage of communities of consecrated life in ecclesial and ecclesiological, legal, symbolic and semiotic terms: approaches capable of inaugurating a new way of understanding cultural heritage and promoting it, at the intersection between charism and creativity.
The conference is intended to be an opportunity for discussion on programmatic and methodological aspects, capable of highlighting replicable models and recommended strategies, useful for other cases and new contexts.
Proposals for intervention are invited from all over the world. Contributions shall be sent by 27 September 2021. Proposals for intervention are invited from researchers, representatives of communities of consecrated life, Representatives of associations and foundations.
