Exhibitors Interview 2026

593 Studio
The Benefit Corporation that drives positive changes

Arch. Michele Sbrissa's interview, Ceo of 593 Studio Srl - SB.

Can you briefly introduce us your company and your production?
593 STUDIO was founded as a Benefit Corporation—one of the first in Italy in the field of professional services—committed to promoting positive change within a framework of environmental, social, and economic sustainability. The studio provides consultancy in architecture and urban regeneration, offering creative, technical, administrative, and project management support to activate transformative and innovative processes involving spaces and places, people, and organizations. Over time, we have worked to create strategic partnerships at both national and international levels, through which we have built a network of solid interdisciplinary expertise, useful for adopting a systemic perspective in complex project contexts.

How do you assess the current situation and future prospects of the Italian market for religious articles?
The Italian market for religious articles is currently undergoing a phase of transformation: alongside the contraction of the more traditional segment, demand related to institutions, places of worship, and religious tourism remains strong. Our experience leads us to believe that the best prospects lie in services (and products) with high symbolic, design, and cultural value, with particular attention to quality, sustainability, and local roots. In this evolution, religious articles will increasingly engage with architecture, design, and the regeneration of spaces, becoming part of an ecosystem of values and communities.

The fifth edition of Devotio is approaching. What do you expect from this fair?
593 STUDIO presents at Devotio a detailed narrative of its commitment to projects for ecclesiastical institutions and communities developed over the years. This commitment translates into interventions concerning the architecture of spaces, construction techniques, and materials, but from a broader perspective, it shapes the way people experience their faith and consider the civic role that Church structures can assume in the community when they become places capable of generating new opportunities for communal life and strengthening social networks. At Devotio, we expect that this account of an emerging complexity will help build collective awareness of the immaterial dimension of architecture in the ecclesiastical context, with particular attention to processes, experiences, and the people who inhabit these spaces. Furthermore, we aim to stimulate reflection on the importance of actively involving communities in rethinking spaces and creating local networks capable of making our interventions socially and economically sustainable.

Will you be presenting anything new at “Devotio 2026”? What might that be?
593 STUDIO’s presence at Devotio stands out in the trade fair context because it is not expressed through the presentation of a material product, but rather showcases the skills and services that architectural projects can provide in the ecclesiastical world. As demonstrated by the experience of “Repair My House,” one of the most significant projects we are presenting at this edition of the fair, 593 STUDIO believes in the importance of building processes and visions that meet the needs of communities and religious institutions. For example, within a framework of reusing parish spaces that currently face functional or structural challenges, 593 STUDIO supports its clients through guided processes in which various participation tools place people at the center and are used to reflect on needs, explore opportunities and future possibilities, and consider the strategic dimension and scalability of interventions.
