Exhibitors Interview 2026

Martinez
Sicilian viniculture tradition since 1866

Agnese Aureli's interview, Sales Manager at Martinez Srl.

Could you briefly introduce your company and your production?
Cantina Martinez is a historic winery based in Marsala, founded in 1866 and deeply connected to the Sicilian winemaking tradition. For generations, we have produced wines made from native grape varieties and from expertise passed down over time. Alongside our traditional wine production, since the 1960s we have been producing wine for Holy Mass, in compliance with Canon Law and certified by the competent ecclesiastical authority, specifically the Diocese of Mazara del Vallo. This is an essential and authentic product, intended exclusively for liturgical use, where the quality and integrity of the raw materials are fundamental.

How do you assess the current situation and future prospects of the Italian religious goods market?
Today, the religious goods market operates within a complex context, yet it remains a stable sector, especially with regard to products intended for worship. Liturgical goods associated with the sacraments continue to play a central role in the life of the Church. In this scenario, we believe that long-established, recognizable, and reliable companies still hold great value: continuity, production integrity, and strict compliance with regulations are elements that truly make a difference and are appreciated over time.

The fifth edition of Devotio is approaching. What do you expect from this trade fair?
Devotio represents an important event for the entire religious world, an opportunity for meeting and dialogue among producers, distributors, and industry professionals. We expect a fair focused on dialogue and relationships, where we can strengthen existing partnerships and introduce ourselves to new stakeholders, sharing a common vision based on quality, respect for tradition, and attentiveness to the needs of religious communities.

Will you be presenting any new developments at “Devotio 2026”? If so, what are they?
At Devotio 2026, we will not be presenting new products: our wine is tradition, and it is a tradition we have chosen to consolidate over the years rather than radically change. The only update concerns a subtle redesign of the label, intended to give it a more contemporary look while preserving its historic identity. For us, true value lies in continuity: offering a reliable, compliant, and recognizable wine.
