Cultural Program 2019

THE FIVE SENSES IN LITURGY
Liturgy and welcoming: making the inaccessible accessible

An exhibition dedicated to religious products and services is the perfect occasion to study the Catholic Church main topics from a cultural point of view. Dealing with important and sensitive topics is not easy; for this reason DEVOTIO is supported by a scientific committee whose members are experts in this field.

DEVOTIO was born with the aim to contribute to the cultural growth of the religious industry and, as for the first edition, a cultural program has been created to focus on art, management of sacred architecture, liturgy and catechesis.
The DEVOTIO 2019 cultural program include meetings and exhibitions focused on “Liturgy and welcoming: making the inaccessible accessible” in its different expressions. The program is addressed to clergies, artists, architects, catechists, teachers, professionals and to those who live and manage places of worship.

2:30 pm Heating historic churches
We wait for your to discuss one of the most difficult issues to implement "Heating churches". Following DEVOTIO 2019 general theme, we will analyze the factors determining the level of comfort in church buildings. Architecture and climate control must be taken into account by designers and customers.

EXHIBITION / LITURGY AND WELCOMING

The Exhibition consists in the projection of photo taken by Giorgio Barrera for the project “Go in peace”. These images are the photographic documentation of churches built after Vatican Council II (1962-1965), they want to reach a synthesis, they therefore depict the Church as an architectural and human place: indispensable elements of the concept of Church that the New Testament defines as "God's building." The Church, therefore, is not intended as a building but as a space made up of people of flesh and bone, of "human material" or - as Saint Paul continues - of "living stones". Post-conciliar Churches structure of the chancel was completely revolutionized.
Through the projection of these images we want to highlight the priest's gaze during a liturgical celebration.

II EDITION - APPROACHING PATH

After the first successful experience, DEVOTIO presents the second edition of Approaching Path: Contemporary artists and Christian mystery. The selected artists will develop the "crucifix" theme. During DEVOTIO it will be possible to take part in the "Open arms crucifix" meeting and visit the exhibition with its artworks.
